Christmas trees in Texas?! Absolutely! Join in the holiday fun by applying today to work with our family, fun team, from the second week of November through December 20. There is a lot to do to prepare for the opening of the tree farm and then the fun really starts once people stop by to pick their favorite trees starting on the day after Thanksgiving.

Martin Farms actually began as a seed in Kenneth Martin's thoughts while living in Seattle, Washington during the early 1990s. The first trees were planted in 1997 and sold for the first time in 2000. A paid staff of five and a volunteer staff of two (Judy's parents) manned the farm.
Fast forward to 2008 and the place is almost unrecognizable. Three tractors circle the property on weekends during tree harvest time always full of happy people. There is staff in the field to assist those customers as well as the strong folks waiting on the tractors to return with a load of trees ready to be shaken, baled and tied on top of cars. The Jingle Bell Express is full of children as the train encircles the North Pole. The North Pole Gourmet & Gifts at Martin Farms is open weekends year round. The North Pole is the grand central of the farm. It houses an ice cream parlor, bakery, restaurant and displays of extraordinary gifts. Wreaths, Gourmet Gift Baskets, and giftwrap take place in their own building, the Elves Workshop. The original building is a commercial kitchen and pantry. There are two party patios and Santa's Annex for private meetings and dining. Martin Farms is open by appointment during weekdays. Catering and meetings are almost a daily occurrence. Martin Farms has played host to birthday parties of all ages, reunions, weddings, car shows, and a myriad of other special events.
It now takes a crew of 17 during weekends in November and December to properly service the customers. Many different jobs available from tractor driving, to gift shop, to restaurant, etc. Staff can work as many hours as they wish as there is always something to be done from cutting a tree to loading that dishwasher one more time!
Houston: Has everything from world class museums, live theater, major medical and shopping centers, and the list goes on.
Brenham / Washington County: The birthplace of Texas with museum, headquarters and tours of Blue Bell Ice Creamm the painted churches tours (churches are over 100 years old). Brenham is 20 miles from here and is our nearest "large city." It has a population of 15,000 and is usually where we go to eat out because Bellville has FOUR spots to eat. Martin Farms is the only restaurant in town that is not ethnic or barbeque and we are only open weekends most of the year!
San Antonio: 2 1/2 hour drive, world famous River Walk, scenic leisurely tour amid restaurants and quaint shops, Spanish mission tour including the Alamo, home to SeaWorld of Texas.
Austin: 2 hour drive, capitol of Texas, tons of fun stuff to see and do.
There are two fully hooked up RV spots on site and Martin Farms will give first dibs to employees who are hired through CoolWorks.com for those spots. There are other RV parks in the area within 20 minutes of the farm. The going rate in the area for a full hook up is $350.00 so that's what will be charged to the employees and it may be deducted from their paychecks.

On your work days, we will provide the noon meal daily from start date thru last day if desired at no charge. We may also be able to include some dinner meals based on Christmas parties.
Martin Farms has "farm status" so all employees are considered "contract labor" so no payroll taxes are deducted from pay. Typically, our employees receive tips throughout the day and also will receive a share of the tips for various parties held on site.
The work schedule at Martin Farms is very flexible. You can work as few as 0 hours in a day or up to 14 hours per day.

We are located one mile outside of Bellville, a small town 75 miles northwest of Houston. There is no public transportation here and we have no company vehicles. We highly recommend a car versus a bike because we are located on a busy highway. In less than half a day, you can pretty much see everything Bellville has to offer.
Please email your resume to Ken or Judy Martin's attention. The new hire training class with be the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving and work can begin that day.
